Creating your future

Your future is your decision. The outcome of today is a product yesterday's decision. Nothing in life is a coincidence. Your decision will either make you or mar you. No one but you is responsible for the state you find yourself in. The economy, society or the nation is not your problem. Your life cannot get better than your decisions. Obviously, every informed decision you make on a daily basis is laying one more brick in your skyscraper hotel of wisdom. By wisdom is a house built.(Prov. 24:3) . The question to ask here is what am I building? Are you building a lasting future or building castles in the air.
There is a very close example of a man who built castles in the air. His name is Esau. It is widely believed among Bible scholars that Jacob stole Esau's birthright. I beg to differ. Jacob didn't steal his brother's birthright. But rather, his brother willingly sold out his birthright by negotiating his future with the pleasure of the present- a small plate of porridge. Gush! Esau took a wrong decision. He negotiated wrongly. But if he had endured a little longer, he would have made a better negotiation. The lesson to learn there is don't negotiate when you are hungry. You are likely to have made the wrong decision. Don't negotiate to have a job because it will solve your present need of food and sustainability. That is a wrong way to decide and it will always have a boomeranging effect on you. Don't negotiate for marriage because you are getting older as a woman or because of the pressure of your peer group, the society and  family. You would have made a decision that it's consequences will have a ripple effect on your future. An account in Proverbs says,He who is full loathes honey but to the hungry, any bitter thing tastes sweet. When you are making a decision, keep the future in mind. You are not just anybody. You are crafted in God's image to fulfil a divine purpose. Let that be your consciousness and motivation. Any decision you make out of a sense of mission and purpose is buiding to grind and halt your destiny. When an opportunity comes your way, don't let the glitz and glamour of emotionalism it ignites cause you to make a decision right away. Jacob in my opinion is smarter than Esau. He weighs every options before he plunges in. He knew by projection that if he keeps been in line with purpose, he will be a commander. He was always a man of the field. That means he is a man of meditation. He meditates upon every challenges, opportunities and ideas and size it up if it is in the line of purpose. There is nothing like luck in the race of destiny. There is a place and a future for a man who thinks through on every matter that comes his way. Jacob was not not lucky to have earned Esau's birthright. When you are walking on the path of destiny, you open yourself up for opportunities for promotion. That day was Jacob's day of promotion in God's program. Esau was just a medium for that to come to pass. Esau was an hunter and he kills to eat. Nothing in reserve. No training, no self discovery, no reaching out to bless others. He was living for himself and the present. I am inspired to say that the most highly paid slave is still a slave. No matter how highly placed you are in an organization, you are still an employee. You've got to start minding your business. There is no achievement in being the top paid personnel in that company. The question is. Is it your business? If not, then you stand a chance to be fired at anytime. Why not start planning and deciding for the future. How far can that job go to preserve your posterity. An account in proverbs says a good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children. It is obvious you can't leave that job for them. So why not start building wealth and creating a new financial future. That will require that you get a better education as you will have to start reading books on business.
Friend, until you change and loose yourself from that comfort, nothing will change. I recommend the book - Who moved my cheese by Spencer Johnson
